Boostlingo Events aims at delivering high quality events on our platform. For this reason, from September 8th 2022 we have introduced new guidelines, in line with ISO standard 24019 - Simultaneous interpreting delivery platform.  (To find more about ISO standard 24019, follow this link)

These ISO24019 guidelines apply to these two distinct groups:

  1. Interpreters
  2. Speakers (including hearing impaired speakers using sign language)

Interpreters

Audio Interpretation

1) If you as an interpreter work in an environment controlled by yourself, we recommend that you make sure that your environment is free of any disturbances that may interfere with your interpretation. Here are a few examples of what could possibly cause a disturbance:

  • Outside traffic
  • Noisy corridors, lifts and kitchens
  • Household appliances
  • Any loud noises made by animals
  • Domestic ventilation and air conditioning equipment

2) We recommend that any connection be stable and to a high standard. Please refer to this support article for guidance on how to test your connection.

3) If you use any software assisting you for terminology, we recommend that being on a separate device than the one running Boostlingo Events meeting.

4) If you use any sound processing methods, you should make sure that any change  from analogue audio to digital audio  be equal to or as clear as the original analogue audio.

5) If you use any device or software such as sound card, amplifier, encoder, mixer, you should make sure that the audio signal frequency response be between 125 Hz and 15 000 Hz and free from any perceptible audio distortion, noise or hum.

6) Your microphone and headset should comply with ISO 24019 requirements. Please visit this page to learn more.

Additional requirements for sign language interpreters

1) Ensuring the camera being used can be adjusted and is set at the correct height so as to be at eye level with the interpreter.

2) Ensure  that the camera feed is clear and the entire upper body of the interpreter is visible.

3) Ensure that the background is neutral and free of any shapes or distortions that may make it harder for the sign language to be seen by the audience. Some possible distortions may be:

  •  Windows in the room
  •  Unsuitable lighting of the speaker or signer
  •  The image of the speaker or signer being badly focused, the image of the signer being too small
  •  Unnatural colors or incorrect white balance
  •  Clothing

4) Ensure that the brightness of any lights can be adjusted to ensure the lighting is clear for the signer.

5) Ensure that the speaker or signer can be fully seen in the video pane to ensure that the interpretation can be properly seen and understood.

1) We recommend that all speakers make sure that their environment is free of any disturbances that may interfere with the sound reaching Boostlingo Events, such as:

  • Outside traffic
