Using Screen Sharing with Audio to Connect Any Platform to Boostlingo Events
If your preferred platform doesn’t support native integration (e.g., as our automatic integrations with MS Teams or Zoom), you can still stream audio into Boostlingo Events using screen sharing with audio, enabling live captions and interpretation on any platform.
This method allows you to route audio from Webex, Google Meet, GoToWebinar, or other systems into Boostlingo Events using a simple and reliable workaround, without additional streaming tools.
How it works
Join your external meeting platform as you usually do (e.g., Webex, Google Meet)
Create a Boostlingo Events session and enable AI interpretation and/or captions if needed
Copy the QR code or the direct link and share it with your audiences (e.g. via chat in the other platform)
Join Boostlingo Events as a moderator (default role for event creator), ideally via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge as a browser: When opening the link, you should allow the use of the camera and microphone from the browser (so you connect well), but you can turn them off after that.
Start the event with the button on the top-left. Make sure you mute your own microphone; this will ensure that the source audio is not also picking up the microphone you use as default.
-
Start the AI features
-
Share your screen, application window or browser tab with "Also share audio" enabled. This is very important since without it allowed Boostlingo Events won't detect the audio from the other platform.
Which sharing option should I use?
Browser tab
→ Best for web-based platforms (Google Meet, webinars, videos)
→ Most reliable audio sharing
Application window
→ Use if your main platform runs as a desktop app
→ Audio support may vary
Entire screen
→ Use as a fallback when above options don’t work
→ Audio sharing is less reliable as it can have interference from other apps
- Monitor that all works well - You can click the "Show Captions" button on the bottom of the interface for checking that the audio is captured and processed well on Boostlingo Events
Screen sharing allows you to select a tab, window, or entire screen, depending on your needs.
Common Troubleshooting
-
No audio in Boostlingo Events
- Make sure you chose to share the screen and click "Share" after you selected the preferred source
- Ensure you clicked the "Share audio" button as well, as in step 7.
-
Audio feedback or disturbance
- Remember to mute your microphone on Boostlingo Events
- Ensure you are not broadcasting other applications that produce audio (e.g. websites, messaging systems, general notifications from the operating system).
- Using headphones is a best practice for better audio control
Potential Limitations:
- The platform audio must play through your computer, if for some reason your settings don't allow audio playback, then Boostlingo Events can't receive that source
- Your browser must support screen sharing with audio - We highly recommend Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
- Some platforms may restrict audio capture - If the platform you are using has strict security settings, this may prevent Boostlingo Events from receiving its audio
