This article provides an overview of the interpreter role once the account in that role has joined the event. In case you would like to read about best practices before joining the event, you can review our Audio Checklist.
1. Allow using your microphone and camera on your browser
- When you join an event, you will receive a pop-up window like above in the pre-check page from the browser you are using, please click "Allow". This should normally be saved to your browser for future visits, but it may pop up again if you reset your microphone permissions or switch browsers.
- The interpreters' video feed will not be broadcasted (except for sign language interpreting), but you still need to allow the use of it from your browser to prevent any audio connections.

3. Soundcheck & Live Technical Support
Opens a private chat with the Boostlingo Events staff for soundcheck and technical support purposes.
4. The Live Status Dot
Displayed on the top-right, it shows you are connected as the broadcasting interpreter.
5. Booth Target
The booth target is the language you are interpreting into. The example below shows you are interpreting into French as your target channel.
**very important** for Bidirectional booth:
Only the active interpreter should control the Booth Target when changing language direction.
- It is a shared target language for booth partners
- When the booth target is changed by one booth partner, the other sees the change in their interface.

Turn on the booth by selecting a target language
In case you need to disengage the booth (e.g. music is playing on Floor) you can do so by clicking that target language again, so that the Floor audio is streamed instead of your microphone feed during this time.
8. Your Source Channel
The source is the language you are listening to. In this example below, it shows you are listening to the Floor (original) language.
- The default Source is Floor
- For relay, the pivot language is chosen by selecting an alternative language - You can choose among any of the available languages on the event, by pressing on the arrow next to the initial non-Floor source channel
- Please note other languages are available depending on the event setup

9. Booth partner status
Easily switch the microphone with the booth partner (if the bidirectional booth is enabled).
See the status of your booth partner:
- Broadcasting - Active interpreting; only hears the source language
- Available - Muted by default; waiting to switch; hears source language and booth partner audio
- Offline - Waiting to be connected
- Idle - Microphone and/or Camera is blocked, the switch cannot be done for this interpreter until those permissions are allowed on the browser or the microphone is detected

14. Additional Settings
Access the settings from the top-right 3 dots. The "Speaker & Microphone settings" are important for ensuring you have the right devices for audio input and output.

Choose in which language all of the features will be displayed including on the portal or login process.

Click to leave the event and go back to the login page - This is only needed if you are logged onto the wrong account. We recommend staying logged on to the interpreter account. You can just close the browser tab in case you wish to leave the event.
15. Chat channels
Choose the one you would like to chat with in any language (learn more about the chat channels):
- Your Virtual Booth - Is opened by Default; it is a private chat only with your booth partner.
- All Interpreters - The chat where all of the interpreters assigned to all of the booths can interact; this is only relevant if multiple booths are present
- All Interpreters + Moderator - Allows you to interact with the client's delegated moderator. Please be careful when writing any feedback here
- General - The chat channel that all participants on the event can see. We advise not writing here except if needed, since this chat, unlike others, can be saved as a transcript.
16. Event slides (Optional)
They will be shown on the screen if they are uploaded in advance. The moderator can choose to show/hide the slides or resort to sharing their screen in case they couldn't upload them in advance.
17. Magnifying glass
The event slides or video feed of the active speaker will go on full-screen when pressed.
